Amek/Tac Console

I just installed the Amek/Tac Scorpion from our B-Room (that is sadly pretty much unused these days) in my control room. I won’t use the preamps on that console (there are better options here) but I will use it as a bank of 16 analog EQs. The EQs are super fuzzy and warm sounding (distorting like crazy) and are just what the doctor ordered if you want some fuzzy analog colour, presence and warmth…great!

Eudaimony Session

Had a great session with my old pal Matthias Jell recording his fantastic vocals for the forthcoming Eudaimony Record. Even recorded a girls choir today and I did some vocals as well. Absolutely brilliant music! To be mixed later this year @ Studio E…

New The Vision Bleak in the making @ Studio E

We are working since last week on the new The Vision Bleak Album. Check out this video from the drumrecordings. Check it our HERE

Update 2013

A cool year awaits I must say. 2013 will be a great year for Studio E and my bands The Vision Bleak and Empyrium. Tons of releases in the pipeline and great plans! The studio is well booked with sessions with amongst others The Vision Bleak, Coronatus, Eisregen, Ewigheim, Bethlehem, Dornenreich and more. So, we are very much looking forward to get the best possible results with these bands! There are still some free slots here and there so get in touch ASAP if you want to work with us.

Time runs fast…

…or time is money. I’ve been working on a couple of really fast-going projects lately. Crystal Crow - gothic metal in the true sense of the term - recorded their new album live with me in 5 Days and I am currently mixing it - you know what? Sounds great! Eis (formerly Geist) recorded and mixed their new album in 9 Days with me. Sounds great. I am currently mastering it. Some icy, ear piercing-guitars and a great Mid-Nineties feeling to it.

Besides this, I have finished the work with Blutmond - great album, great guys, had another session with Ewigheim, did some additional recordings and mix and mastering for a real interesting German Project called Tervingi and finally finished my work on the live mix for a coming Empyrim DVD. Speaking of that band - good olde Helm will be here next week to work with me on new Empyrium Material.

Besides all this I am having a great time with the “Radio from Outer Space” pictured above aka the Kemper Profiling Amplifier. This thing has to be heard to be believed. The coolest and greatest “digital guitar amp” I’ve ever used.

Exciting times run fast…

Busy times as usual

This year saw me working on so many different projetcs - either full production, only mixing, mastering, stem-mastering or only recording it’s hard to remember it all. Fact is, this year has gone by within the blink of an eye. Check out the newest albums by Farsot, Secrets Of The Moon, Alcest, Marienbad, Coronatus, Eisregen, Sonic Reign, Under That Spell, Nebelkrähe and Ewigheim (here I participated on guitar leads and other stuff) to hear what I have been working on this year .Those are some names I remember from the top of my head. Besides I have been working on/off on the sound for a coming Live DVD of my old band Empyrium with whom I made a quite memorable show at this year’s Wave Gotik Treffen. Hope to finish this soon. Next week I am gonna finish a new album with German Black-Thrashers Ketzer. Had a drumrecording session with them earlier this autumn. Great guys and really cool music. Looking forward to this! More projetcs waiting as well. Among other’s a session with Swiss Avantgarde Black Weirdos Blutmond. Looking forward!

New Year - New Gear!

Happy New Year everyone! The year

starts good with some new gear for Studio E! With one laughing and one crying eye we parted ways with our olde Lady - the Trident 65 Console that is. She served us well for almost ten

years and we are thankful. May she find a new and cozy home.

We got ourselves a super-slick Audient ASP2802 for replacement. What a cool little board. Sure, it doesn’t look as

impressive as the Trident but it sounds and performs like a champ! It’s actually and automated analog console, a pro tools controller, a monitor controller, excellent mic pres and bus

compressor and so on. I don’t want to bore you with technical details but rest assured it’s both in terms of sonics and workflow a definite upgrade from our previous console - we are

very happy!

Since the last update we had some great full production album sessions with Farsot (who are actually back tomorrow to finish the session) and German Pagan (heavy)

Metallers from Wolfchant. Both sessions have been smooth and inspiring and cool guys all around! We also did some mastering jobs for Golden Dawn and some album sequencing and PQ Editing

for Lifelover.

We are looking forward to 2011 - lots of Studio E regulars and new bands knocking at our door. It will be fun!

Markus

Chartbreakers, work and even more work

You may forgive my update laziness this year. It was one of

the most busy ones in Studio E history for sure. The year started great with two of my Productions entering the German Charts quite high (The Vision Bleak entered on position 65,

Eisregen even on 27!)

We went on and remixed

some old recordings from German Black Metallers Geist (now Eis) and started recordings and production for old Studio E fellows Helrunar. This turned out to be one of my favourites for a

long time both in terms of music and production! It was finally mixed in August and you have to check it out, seriously!

Spring saw us recording and

mixing Midnattsol’s third album during a long and creative session that was fun. See a videointerview the band did with me here:

href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oplV6TmO1-U">Interview

We didn’t rest and produced, recorded and mixed with our friends from Dornenreich

with whom we worked on their new and stunning album “Flammentriebe”.

In August we did mixes for Arbor Ira, Goatfuneral, Dies Fyck and

Panzerkreutz.

Of course we went touring with The Vision Bleak as well and last but not least yours truly also did

More work is knocking at the door in form of Farsot,

Wolfchant and a livemix for Midnattsol…so again, you may forgive my update laziness….:-)

One last update in 2009

Phew…this has been a busy year for sure. Since the last update we did full productions for Modern (Black?) Metallers Blutmond from Switzerland as well as German Gothic Metal Band

href="http://www.coronatus.de/">Coronatus. November saw us mixing Old School Black Metal from Goat Funeral. Right now

href="http://www.the-vision-bleak.de">The Vision Bleak are putting the finishing touches on their new Album Set Sail To Mystery. Just a few mixes to go. I wish everybody who reads

this a successful and inspiring 2010 and some relaxing X-Mas days.

Another Update!

The Vision Bleak finished the first part of their recording sessions. Check a video from the recordings

href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_JdGvOw_AQ">here! Furthermore recording sessions with french Alcest (to be mixed elsewhere),

German Kammercore Ensemble Remember Twilight (to be mixed next week) and German Black/Death Metal Band

href="http://www.badoc.eu/">Badoc (mixed as you read this!) have been successfully finished. And since work doesn’t stop we are looking forward to recording/mixing sessions with

Blutmond from Switzerland, Coronatus from Germany, Goatfuneral from Germany and of course the finishing of The Vision Bleak’s new Opus!
